The date of commemoration is never known into be Jesus’ actual birthday, & may have initially been chosen into correspond with either the day exactly nine months after some early Christians believed Jesus had been conceived, a historical Roman festival, or the winter solstice. Christmas is central into the Christmas & holiday season, & in Christianity marks the beginning of the larger season of Christmastide, which lasts twelve days. For many centuries, Christian writers accepted that Christmas was the actual date on which Jesus was born. However, in the early eighteenth century, scholars began proposing alternative explanations. Isaac Newton argued that the date of Christmas was selected into correspond with the winter solstice, which in ancient times was marked on December 25. In 1743, German Protestant Paul Ernst Jablonski argued Christmas was placed on December 25 into correspond with the Roman solar holiday Dies Natalis Solis Invicti & was therefore a “paganization” that debased the true church. Her voice holds so much in it, it feels like you can relate to what she’s feeling, even though I haven’t really experienced this sort of situation, you can understand the regret she’s feeling. And the Big Big heart is one of the most bettersweet parts of the whole song.
<3

@SceneKitty3 You have no idea how much I agree with you on this one. I think Lisa herself owes you an apology for this, seriously, who would put optimism and an uplifting twist into such a melancholic song? You little emo fuckwit.

@deadmoron1
actually we christians celebrate it for one thing: the birth of christ. you atheists should change your term of it.
September 9th, 2010 at 1:03 am
@libetta just because the current term for the holiday is christmas doesn’t mean that the holiday itself is christian. what gtaiv117 is pointing out is that the christians stole the holiday from the pagans. in fact, christians stole just about everything about their religion from other religions, there is absolutely nothing original in christianity
September 9th, 2010 at 1:15 am
Hmm this is cool. Click to itubing [dot] com and they give you an iphon4 if you are willing to watch youtube videos for an hr or more per day.
September 9th, 2010 at 1:17 am
@libetta im not addressing ur retarted ass anymore….. u r so ignorant its annoying
September 9th, 2010 at 1:29 am
@gtaiv117
rather, are you the one retarded? you atheists should have a different term and replace the word christmas itself. btw, pagans are religious people. lol. maybe you should not celebrate at all. we celebrate christmas for the birth of christ, when you atheists are too concerned with material gifts and decorations. blah
September 9th, 2010 at 2:27 am
@libetta are u like retarted? oh wait ur simply a christian who cant comprehend shit….. i am no cultist i am telling u THE FACTS of what christmas is…. and CHRISTIANS celebrate the life of jesus on that day because people didnt know when he was truly born and misinterpreted text… this is the last time im addressing ur slow ass….. go read a book or something…. BTW IM ATHEIST RETARD
September 9th, 2010 at 2:53 am
@kshepherdgmail
the only thing we got on “your” way is the date itself. who gives a shit about that?
September 9th, 2010 at 3:33 am
@gtaiv117
winter solitice, check. tree decorations, check. for whatever reason, christians celebrate CHRISTMAS for the birth of Christ the King. keep whatever practices and traditions you have, it doesn’t change anything. CHRISTMAS came from a CHRISTIAN term. you should change the name itself for your cult
September 9th, 2010 at 4:27 am
@libetta Actually u are very ignorant right now…. Christimas IS a paegan holiday… it was created BY THE PAEGANS and over time it grew onto christians who didnt understand the holiday and instead made it there own in a morale biased world. Do some research before u come and try to comment on stuff u THINK u kno about. Christmas is not the day jesus was born because it says in the bible he was born on EASTER so get ur facts straight..
September 9th, 2010 at 4:36 am
@libetta I would, but not many people would know what I was talking about if I went around saying happy Yuletide. I have no problem with the holiday or it’s being called Christmas, I just think people should pay attention to the facts. There’s nothing wrong with choosing that day to celebrate a moment of religious significance, even though it may not be the correct day. My main sticking point is the fact that christians do not have a monopoly on the holiday.
September 9th, 2010 at 5:16 am
@gtaiv117
actually christmas is the very birth of christ. this pagan thing you all mention is NOT christmas
September 9th, 2010 at 5:19 am
@gtaiv117
sorry, we don’t care. is it because of the date or the practices? we could change the date and it still would be christmas.
September 9th, 2010 at 5:47 am
@kshepherdgmail
whatever man. you should change your name of the holiday
September 9th, 2010 at 6:11 am
@libetta The only thing christian about christmas is the name. Everything else about the holiday is pagan. Plus if you study the “holy” bible the nazarene would have been born somewhere between september and october. 6 months after the john the baptist character who was born around the spring passover.
September 9th, 2010 at 6:57 am
@KrazyKat09 no offense but if ur church were to do some simple research… they would realize x-mas is a paegan holiday and has nothing to do with jesus
September 9th, 2010 at 6:59 am
actualy x-mas has nothing to do with jesus (christianity) its a pagaen holiday so any christians who actually celebrate x-mas are ignorant hipocrits who will burn in hell… according to the christian bible…..GO GET AN EDUCATION U DUMB CHRISTIANS
September 9th, 2010 at 7:33 am
@TheNorwegianACDCFan
you proved my point well. thank you. Christmas is indeed from Christians.
September 9th, 2010 at 8:06 am
@libetta well if you watch this film you will get nformation aboute the pagan christmas. and I’m from norway wich is in scandinavia. and here we dont call it christmas, we call it “jul” wich means “yule” and “jul” has been celebrated in norway and scandinavia long before the christianity came.
September 9th, 2010 at 8:19 am
@TheNorwegianACDCFan
pretty accurate informations and stats, but useless. Christmas still originated from Christians. was there ever a word mentioned by the pagans? apparently none
September 9th, 2010 at 8:51 am
@libetta I do think there is winter in israel, its not snow. but its still winter and very cold at nights. so nobody vould herd sheeps at that time of the year or at that time of the day. and btw “jesus was born” in betlehem, not jerusalem. “lol”
September 9th, 2010 at 9:25 am
@TheNorwegianACDCFan
unless the winter you’re speaking of is the one in north pole. lol. there’s no winter in jerusalem
September 9th, 2010 at 9:28 am
God hates Christmas…
September 9th, 2010 at 9:39 am
I plan to have many videos about the best time of the year. I have family roots in christianity, but I have my own views. Like I said, I prefer to mainly celebrate just the folklore parts of the holiday, such as Santa clause.
September 9th, 2010 at 9:50 am
@TheFoundersWereRight
Thank you for that. I am an atheist and I love Christmas. It’s my favorite time of year. Personally, I use it as a time for family, friends, and rest. Of course, the gift giving/getting isn’t bad either. Every year, I watch shows on television an read things on the nativity story, and I recognize that that is the meaning of Christmas to some. I just see it as a story. An amazing, beautiful story, but still, just a narrative. And around Christmas time, check out my channel.
September 9th, 2010 at 10:30 am
I am Christian, and actually, none of my church believes he ACTUALLY born on the day. It’s absurd. And my church just uses the day as way to celebrate the birth of Christ, since we do not know the day.
